If you are looking to make a statement out on the road, you may want to check out the brand new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 that was unveiled at the Los Angeles International Show that got underway on November 28th. More powerful and ridiculously aggressive in its design, the brand new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is definitely a statement car. It’s the kind of vehicle that you want to learn more about, and that you definitely want in your garage.
The return of the convertible Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Better yet, Chevrolet did something this year that they hadn’t done since the 1970s… develop a convertible Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. It’s an absolute beauty, and the ability to take the roof down means that you can enjoy even more the sound of the monstrous 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine found under the ZR1’s bulging hood. Making a mind-blowing 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque, the ZR1’s V8 is quite simply insane. It will allow the new ‘Vette to reach 100 km/h in just over 3.0 seconds on its way to a top speed of more than 300 km/h.
The convertible should also be able to hold its own on a race track as it shares the same underbody, the same aluminum track chassis and the same suspension. Moreover, the roof doesn’t add an excessive amount of weight as only 60 pounds are added to the coupe’s 3,560 base curb weight.
Visually, the convertible looks as good as the coupe, and owners will be able to choose between a huge rear wing which is bolted to the chassis and capable of producing almost 1,000 pounds of downforce, or a standard wing that is just as impressive at keeping the ZR1 planted to the road.
The all-new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will be loud. Very loud in fact. Indeed, it will provide four different modes for the exhaust system, but there will also be a Stealth mode that makes the exhaust quieter than the Z06 Corvette for when you don’t want to wake up the entire neighborhood.
