The Chevrolet Traverse is truly a vehicle built for families that need a lot of interior space but that do not want to have to compromise on driveability and agility, and that are also value-conscious.
If you are in the market for a spacious and versatile sport utility vehicle, the Chevrolet Traverse should be at the top of your list. Chevrolet’s midsize SUV offers plenty of interior space while being more stylish than a minivan and easier to drive around town than the larger Tahoe.
Already quite popular, the Chevrolet Traverse gets even better with the latest generation unveiled at the North American International Auto Show earlier this month.
The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse keeps everything that we liked about the previous Traverse generation, but adds more legroom for passengers and more cargo space as well. The Traverse also features a new, bolder design that will get it noticed out on the road, and plenty of new safety and connectivity technologies.
What is interesting about the Traverse is that it is actually very similar to the larger Tahoe in terms of versatility, but it is also more affordable. HERE’S WHAT IS NEW IN THE 2018 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE
There are a lot of things that are new with the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, starting with the interior. Capable of seating up to eight passengers, the new Traverse gets significant improvements in the storage department with additions that include hidden storage compartments, areas to store computers and umbrellas, and a larger center console storage bin.
There are a total of 10 cup holders inside the new Traverse along with 7 USB ports which are spread around the cabin. Access to the third row is made easier thanks to Chevrolet’s Smart Slide second-row seating which can now tip forward even if there is a child seat installed on the second row.
If you don’t need the third row, you get more than 1,600 liters of cargo space. Even with all seats in place, the 2018 Traverse features more than 650 liters. That means that you can transport 8 passengers in the new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, but there is also enough room for everyone to bring a suitcase.
Two Engines for the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse
Two engines will power the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The first is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 305 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque while the second is a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that offers 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Both are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission along with automatic stop/start technology designed to save fuel.
In the technology department, the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse offers a range of exclusive safety and connectivity features that include Rear Seat Reminder which reminds you to not leave anything – or anyone – behind when leaving the vehicle as well as a host of active safety technologies such as rear cross-traffic alert, lane change alert, lane departure warning, a 360-degree surround view camera, and a lot more.
